Idaho Kombucha Co.

Based in: Boise, ID
Founded: 2013
Distribution: Boise, ID

Potatoes aren’t the only thing that grows in Idaho. So do scobys! And the scoby responsible for fermenting Idaho Kombucha Co’s teas dates back to over six years. That’s when Mike Landa and his wife Terri, founders of IKC, started brewing kombucha at home. Fast forward to 2013: Mike had now been in the graphic design industry for 25 years, and felt like he could use the change. Plus, they sensed a huge gap in the Idaho kombucha market. So the husband and wife team moved their brewing operation to a commercial kitchen in Boise, and haven’t stopped since.

Idaho Kombucha's brews are remarkable—one of the best we’ve ever had. It’s clean, crisp, perfectly sparkling, with flavors that just dance upon your tongue. Pear Flower is as enchanting as it sounds. The soft pear flavor with notes of star anise and helichrysum flowers work so beautifully with the green and white tea blend. Lemon Lavender tastes like summer. The lemon scent and flavor is the star and lavender is like a gentle supporter, creating this tart-and-mellow flavor that is just lovely.

We love the smaller sized 11oz bottles and the bright, clean packaging. The company also practices incredible sustainability, having partnered with local organic farms to source most of their ingredients, as well as using only fair-trade teas and sugars, and composting all of the kombucha byproducts.
