Woof's this? It's Guinness, Craft’s mascot, looking at himself on the label! We had the immense pleasure of meeting him and his parent, Tanya Maynigo-Loucks, who founded Craft essentially by accident. She had been home-brewing for over a decade, when one overabundant batch ended up being sampled by everyone from colleagues to friends and even Guinness the dog himself. The reaction was so overwhelmingly positive that Tanya—whose background is in photography and real estate—decided to brew full time.


The idea behind Craft is taking the same approach to brewing booch as one would with craft beer or any finely crafted fermented brew. The booch in this photo is the Grape blend, which sources a local varietal grape that would be used in a Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a mildly sweet green tea blend with matcha and sencha. So tasty. Another favorite of ours is their Bavarian Falcon flavor, with is brewed with Bavarian hops in the second ferment.

Craft operates a booch bar inside Union Market—an adorable space surrounded by other creative vendors. It’s a must-visit in D.C., especially with Guinness the dog there to greet you.
