Buddha's Brew Kombucha

Based in: Austin, TX
Founded: 2006
Distribution: TX, AK, LA, OK + KS, NE, MS, MO, CO, NM

The first kombucha brand to emerge from the Austin, Texas kombucha scene, Buddha's Brew had planted their seeds at the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market in 2006. As the brand grew, founder Kimberly Lanski was soon joined by John-Paxton Gremillion and together they expanded operations into a microbrewery warehouse.

The colorful labels on the bottles feature Buddha, naturally. With the first known use of kombucha in China in 221 B.C. and over 240 million Chinese Buddhists, Buddha's Brew seems to be a perfect name for a kombucha brand but the true namesake was Kimberly's own love of meditation and spirituality.

Blueberry is one of the first two flavors that Buddha’s Brew launched and it remains a best-seller. It’s easy to see why. It has such a amazing blueberry flavor. Did you know that there are dozens of different strains of blueberry? According to Kimberly, the type of blueberry they use is a well-guarded secret, and was chosen after a great deal of research and testing. In other words: It’s totally unique. This flavor has an irresistible malty note in there, that is almost maple-like.

The Cranberry flavor—which also has grape and apple ingredients—tastes like the ripest of all those fruits blended together with a nice subtly tart booch bite. So good!
