We love learning about the stories behind kombucha brand names. In the case of this one, Baba was what the company’s founder, Olga Sorzano, used to call her grandma. Olga—who is an award-winning personal chef and organic caterer—hails from Siberia, in Russia, where she drank a lot of kombucha as a child. Grandma Baba brewed it religiously, like many Russians. When Olga moved to the U.S. 15 years ago, she began craving the familiar fermented brew. Eventually, she started brewing her own, and in 2015, Baba’s was born.

This is the kind of booch we adore: Crisp, with the perfect balance of tart and sweet. It's wonderfully fizzy, with subtle, but memorable flavors.

The Asian Pear Ginger, center, first tastes like pear, then the ginger kind of floats in, giving it a nice, mellow zing. The two flavors balance each other perfectly. The carbonation is spot-on. Blueberry, on the right, is also excellent, with floral notes of hibiscus and the juicy fruityness of blueberry. We love the shape of the bottles too and the cute logo. It's safe to say we're pretty GAGA for BABA’s.
